What it Takes to Make HIV Self-Testing A Global Reality: Evidence, Quality-Assurance Products, and Country Uptake

Event Date:
Durban International Conference Center, Session Room 6

HIV self-testing, the process in which a person tests and interprets the result in private, has significant potential to scale up access to HIV testing, particularly among young, key affected populations who are at high risk for HIV infection. This satellite will explore World Health Organization's latest guidance on HIV self-testing, the WHO prequalification process, and country experiences implementing self-testing in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The session will include a donor panel addressing current priorities and perspectives on what needs to happen to make HIV self-testing a global reality.
