Handbook on Counselling and Psychosocial Care for Children and Adolescents Living with and Affected by HIV in Africa

The African Network for the Care of Children Affected by AIDS (ANECCA) developed the Handbook on Counselling and Psychosocial Care for Children and Adolescents Living with and Affected by HIV in Africa, with support from AIDSFree, as a comprehensive guide for the health care providers who work in counselling and psychological care of children and adolescents. The handbook includes information on HIV clinical care; growth and development; mental health; child protection; counseling and communication; disclosure; loss, grief, and bereavement; adherence; sexual and reproductive health; transition of care; support systems; and monitoring and evaluation of psychosocial services. There is also a Pocket Guide which is a condensed version of the comprehensive guide and designed for on-the-job use.
