To ensure quality HIVST distribution, correct use, and accurate interpretation of results, and to promote effective linkage to testing confirmation and care, the ATLAS Project has developed comprehensive training packages for dispensing agents in each country but also HIVST supporting tools for users.
Training of national trainers (stakeholders from the national system and civil society organizations) have been conducted in Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, and Senegal to provide a pool of trainers (20 persons per country) who can train HIVST dispensing agents (health providers and peer educators) and hotline operators.
The resource material presented includes training of trainers’ manuals and pedagogical tools used during a three-day session in Senegal, focused on using active teaching methods and practical exercises.
The curriculum includes the following modules:
- Module 1: Epidemiological, Political, and Strategic Context for HIVST Integration
- Module 2: OraQuick HIVST Presentation and Its Supporting Tools
- Module 3: Training Techniques for Adult Learning
- Module 4: Role, Expected Qualities for HIVST Kit Dispensing Agents/Hotline Operators, and How to Correctly Distribute HIVST Kits Among Targeted Populations
