EGPAF, CHAI & Unitaid, 2018.

From the session, Bringing the test to the patient: Methods and tools for integrating innovative point-of-care HIV testing into national laboratory networks, this AIDS 2018 presentation describes results from routine point-of-care (POC) testing for early infant diagnosis, including an overview of implementation phases, activities, and tools applied. It also provides an introduction to site and product selection, product approval, site capacity assessments, and placement models for POC testing. Key elements of site enrollment, orientation, planning, training, monitoring and quality assurance, including logistics for a short-haul, hub-and-spoke testing model are outlined as well as special considerations for the procurement and supply chain management of POC HIV diagnostics.
